Waterman has a long track record in providing professional advice on a variety of transport and infrastructure related engineering projects within the road, rail, marine and aviation and development infrastructure markets.

The firm has built its reputation on the delivery of complex projects within these markets which require expert skills across a wide range of related disciplines.  Waterman is working on major highway, rail, residential and urban regeneration infrastructure schemes and has over fifteen long term framework agreements.  Clients include Highways Agency, Network Rail, county and city councils, regional development agencies, rail companies, airlines, developers, contractors, and PFI consortia.

Services range from initial feasibility studies and transportation surveys to planning application support, detailed design, construction management and maintenance planning for the lifetime of the asset.  Waterman’s civil / structural / geotechnical engineers, environmental scientists, hydrologists and transport planners contribute to large multi-disciplinary teams or act independently as specialist technical advisors.  The company also has a number of nationally recognised experts who are regularly called to give expert witness evidence at planning enquiries.

Waterman takes the lead in delivering environmentally sustainable solutions and its specialist understanding of issues such as transportation planning, land engineering and hydrology help to deliver plans that achieve approval and projects that come to life.

Current projects include the M62 improvements as part of the Highways Agency Managed Motorway initiative; the Biddenham Bypass in Bedfordshire; work on London railway stations as part of the Transport for London framework; and upgrades to London Underground stations as part of the Tubelines framework. Waterman recently completed a major enabling project at Kings Cross in support of the regeneration of the area on behalf of Argent and Network Rail.  A number of aviation projects are underway at Gatwick, Heathrow and Dublin Airports.
