Baggot Plaza awarded LEED Gold Certification
We are pleased to announce that Baggot Plaza in Dublin has achieved a LEED Gold sustainable certification.
Baggot Plaza, one of the most prestigious properties in Kennedy Wilson’s portfolio, involved the refurbishment and extension of an existing 1970’s 7-storey office building located at the heart of the Grand Canal commercial district. The building has been re-clad externally with the introduction of red sandstone to the primary Baggot Street elevation and with coloured horizontal tile cladding to the remaining facades.
Waterman was appointed by Kennedy Wilson to provide the Civil, Structural, Traffic and Health & Safety services and worked closely with the design team and the contractor to complete this landmark project.
The project was completed within 15 months, and a Grade A building was delivered. By maintaining the building frame and elements of the original building, significant efficiencies were achieved. These include a 70% reduction in energy consumption and a considerable improvement in the Emissions Rating (BER) from F to B1.
Richard Osborne, Waterman Moylan’s Structures Director, commented: “We are proud to have been appointed on this major re-development which has transformed and uplifted a part of the Dublin commercial district that had become somewhat tired and dated. We look forward to developing our relationship with Kennedy Wilson and to working with them in the future to create further iconic landmarks in Dublin.”
