Doune Health Centre Highly Commended at NHS Scotland Excellence Awards
Waterman are delighted that Doune Health Centre in Scotland was Highly Commended in the Design Excellence category of the NHS Scotland Excellence Awards, hosted during the Health Facilities Scotland conference on 31 October and 1 November.
The two-day conference was held at Crieff Hydro Hotel, Perthshire, and brought together a variety of delegates, exhibitors and speakers from across the country as they shared their knowledge on ‘Healthy Estate, Healthy Outcomes’, aimed at professionals across the health and social care sector.
As part of NHS Scotland’s aim to encourage and acknowledge professional excellence covered by the facilities staff, the annual NHS Scotland Excellence Awards accept submissions for four categories: Design Excellence, Engineering and Energy Excellence, Facilities Innovation and Sustainability Excellence. The Paul Taylor Award is also given to the best overall submission, as chosen by the judging panel.
Due to the recent development of new homes in Doune, a significant increase in the population resulted in the need for a larger state-of-the-art health and social care facility to accommodate 850 additional patients.
The new medical practice for NHS Forth Valley, built by Haddon Group for hub East Central Scotland, offers a range of amenities, including: physiotherapy, podiatry, adult mental health, dermatology, counselling and support of people with long term conditions such as diabetes. There are also additional services for dementia link and old age psychiatry through the doctor and community psychiatric nurse clinics.
Watermans’s team in Scotland were appointed to provide civil and structural engineering consultancy services including detailed site modelling and a flood and drainage strategy.
