Melbourne’s Sunshine Hospital opens new $34.9m emergency department
Waterman is delighted to see the opening of Sunshine Hospital’s new emergency department in Melbourne’s western suburbs.
Delivered in partnership with Western Health, Silver Thomas Hanley (STH) and Lendlease for Victorian Health Building Authority (VHBA), the new $34.9m facilities will enable the treatment of an additional 59,000 patients each year. Incorporating 55 additional treatment spaces, a medical imaging suite, a new paediatric unit for children needing urgent care and an expanded administration area and upgraded staff amenities, the department will provide a much-needed boost for the region’s emergency healthcare provision.
As part of the redevelopment, the existing emergency department will also be refurbished to provide ten additional treatment spaces, along with a new resuscitation area and a behaviour assessment unit.Waterman’s expert team undertook the full engineering services design, documentation and construction phase services including mechanical, electrical, fire, hydraulic and vertical transportation.
