One New Street Square wins WAN Commercial Award
We are delighted that our project One New Street Square has won the WAN Commercial Award 2016.
The WAN (World Architecture News) Awards celebrates pioneering projects that are purposed for business activities. The category is open to completed projects that push commercial architecture into new and exciting directions – whether an office, restaurant, retail outlet, hotel or shopping mall.
One New Street Square is a superb Grade A office development designed by Robin Partington & Partners. The scheme provides 15 floors of quality office space combined with ground floor retail units and reception areas. The Pas de Deux form offers a dynamic addition to the London skyline with panoramic views across the city.
Waterman were appointed by Land Securities to provide structural engineering services on this prestigious development. We worked closely with the Architect Robin Partington & Partners to achieve an exceptional floor plate with minimal internal columns. The structural solution provided great flexibility in space planning and at the same time limited the overall building heights respecting the St Paul’s Cathedral protected views.
Paul Collins, Senior Vice President and Managing Director of HOK Asia Pacific, who is a judge on the panel, commented; “This project is a great advertisement of the skills of a very successful commercial architect. Working in a very demanding location, with no doubt a very demanding client and being able to bring a high-quality end office space has to be commended. To satisfy the City of London, the corporate clients, the build-ability, the budget, the complexities in a building such as this in that location are just phenomenal.”
The winners were announced on the WAN website on 28th February 2017.
