Two projects shortlisted for Property Awards
Waterman are delighted that two of its projects, Embassy Gardens and The Marq, have been shortlisted for the prestigious Property Awards.
Celebrating 25 years of excellence, this year’s awards continue to showcase the very best companies, teams and individuals across 22 categories. A special ‘Silver Jubilee Award’ category has also been introduced to mark the occasion.
Embassy Gardens is shortlisted for ‘The Placemaking Award’ which aims to reward commercial or mixed-use developments that have reinvigorated or physically improved the built environment, whilst The Marq is up for the ‘Wellbeing Award’ which recognises an exemplar building, project or initiative that offers exceptional wellbeing for its occupiers and has a significant sustainability, social or environmental impact.
As part of the larger Nine Elms regeneration in central London, Embassy Gardens is a luxury 15-acre development surrounding the new United States Embassy building. With the intention for people to work, live and relax on site, one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments and suites are complimented by a private resident’s Sky Pool, rooftop bar and private cinema. Waterman co-ordinated the Environment Impact Assessment and prepared both the Environmental and Sustainability Statements in support of the planning application. The team also provided multidisciplinary design advice on ecology, land contamination, air quality, flood risk, archaeology and noise.
The Marq’s prestigious Rolfe Judd-led design features 35,000 ft2 of office space arranged over the first to sixth floors with 11,000 ft2 of retail and restaurant space at ground and basement levels. The building was targeted to achieve a BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ rating for the office space and a WELL Building Core and Shell Gold certification. Waterman’s structures team developed the structural design and provided technical consultancy to help maximise the potential of this confined site, utilising their skills in creative engineering in close proximity to nearby buildings and busy streets.
The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony at Grosvenor House, London, on 21 April.
