In a recent statement, Vivek Ahuja, Chief Executive Officer of Terra Firma, said: “We are incredibly pleased to welcome Hopkins Homes into the Terra Firma family. As a regional housebuilder, it is recognised for its strong business and brand, and I greatly look forward to working with… the team to drive the next phase of Hopkins Homes’ success.”

Waterman’s team provided environmental due diligence support for the takeover, seeing our specialists undertake a portfolio assessment of Hopkins Homes’ main development sites to identify any potential key environmental risks which may have either presented a material cost to progressing a site’s development or represented a significant contingent liability. In addition, our team undertook a high level review of Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) issues associated with the business to determine any potential exposure. Terra Firma were advised by Waterman alongside Addleshaw Goddard, Deloitte, Savills and Arcadis.

James Hopkins, Founder and Executive Chairman of Hopkins Homes, recently stated: “Since founding the business, our mission has always been to deliver high-quality housing that sits at the heart of communities, whilst preserving the character of East Anglia for generations to come. I have every confidence that under Terra Firma’s stewardship and the continued leadership of Lee Barnard, Hopkins Homes will continue to go from strength to strength.”

Waterman’s Technical Director and Climate Resilience expert, Dave Allen, commented: “We were delighted to support Terra Firma’s acquisition of Hopkins Homes. This will ultimately benefit the communities of East Anglia, supporting rising demand for high-quality, sustainable homes in the area by unlocking key development sites. By providing specialist environmental input, our team helped Terra Firma gain a clear picture across Hopkins Homes’ portfolio, enabling them to make an informed decision on the transaction. I look forward to seeing these schemes come to fruition as the relationship flourishes.”
