Work starts on site for new extension at Bolton Sixth Form College
Waterman are delighted that work has begun on site for the new £4 million rear extension at Bolton Sixth Form College’s state-of-the-art town centre campus in Greater Manchester.
Following the building’s previous single-storey expansion, the five-storey college facility will undergo a second makeover to include new study areas, teaching space, offices and four storeys of residential accommodation to support an additional 230 students within their study programmes.
Working alongside 10 Architects, Waterman have been appointed to provide M&E design services throughout the scheme, meeting strict low energy design requirements to further extend the college’s excellent teaching facilities. Key areas within the existing building will also be remodelled and restructured to improve the spatial provision and align with current curriculum requirements.
Tim Davies, Regional Director for Waterman Building Services in Manchester, commented; “We are delighted to be working alongside Bolton Sixth Form College, 10 Architect and Seddon Construction for this latest extension. The new learning facilities will allow more students to make the most of their education in an environment that is enriching for both students and staff.”
The first phase was completed across the summer break with the final hand over anticipated in the summer of 2020.
