The detailed designs for phase one include three main buildings:

  • A flagship John Lewis store, with a striking facade drawing on Leeds’ textile heritage
  • Victoria Gate arcade, with stores, restaurants, cafes and leisure space in an elegantly designed two street arcade linking Victoria Quarter to the John Lewis store
  • A multi-storey car park for up to 800 cars

Waterman has been appointed for Building Services, Structural, Geotechnical, Highways, Transport, Civil Engineering, Environmental, Fire, Acoustics and Public Health consultants for the development, working with Sir Robert McAlpine, John Lewis Partnership and Hammerson.

We have undertaken detailed modelling of the arcade space. This was done in order to provide a high quality low energy environment. We achieved this my modelling the thermal performance, the acoustic performance and the smoke ventilation. The results will prove to be a well-engineered passive arcade.
