For over 30 years, we’ve been providing a wide range of support to the energy sector, delivering engineering and specialist environmental consultancy services throughout the full asset lifecycle, from site selection, pre-planning, remediation, and design through to construction, operation and divestment. Aligned with our ambition to deliver cleaner energy, we also design infrastructure to support NOx, Sox, and dust reduction technologies for existing assets. Our experience spans the full spectrum of power, biomass storage and handling, waste handling and Energy from Waste (EfW) projects, in addition to the essential infrastructure which underpins and connects these, and we’re highly experienced in delivering cost-effective and sustainable energy solutions for our clients.

To support sustained growth in the UK’s renewable energy sector, we’re delivering designs and consultancy for some of the most significant manufacturing facilities which deliver wind turbine blades, sub-sea cables, and marine wind turbine bases, seeing us work with clients such as Siemens, SeAH Wind, and JDR Cables. In addition, we’re also helping the UK prepare for a Net Zero future by supporting the design and delivery of renewable energy generation, power storage, energy from waste, hydrogen, and carbon capture schemes with clients such as Orsted and BP.

Our specialists are also delivering CHP/heat offtake optimisation and low-carbon heat integration, and, with EfW being brought into the UK Emissions Trading Scheme from 2026, we have the expertise to handle the monitoring, reporting and verification requirements for your assets and operations in the energy sector.

As the UK continues to move away from fossil fuels, we have successfully implemented methodologies to safely dismantle and demolish redundant power infrastructure. The nature of these assets requires careful planning to ensure safe demolition, mitigating any impact on the surrounding environment.

Siemens Gamesa Wind Turbine Blade Factory

Siemens Gamesa’s wind turbine blade manufacturing facility in Hull doubles in size through the addition of two new buildings, enabling the production of larger, more efficient blades. Covering 42,000 sqm, the new £82m units the largest facility of its kind in the UK.

Neart na Gaoithe Substation Platform

Located approximately 20km off the Fife Coast in the Firth of Forth, the NNG Windfarm will include 54 wind turbines generating a total 450MW of power.

Drax Power Station

UK’s largest renewable power station and has a long history of playing a central role in producing the UK’s electricity.

Allerton Waste Recovery

Delivering on our commitments, minimising waste sent to landfill in conjunction with a targeted 90% reduction across the region. This new facility provides North Yorkshire County Council and City of York Council a saving on their waste management bill over the next 25 years, whilst producing 220,000 MWh of renewable electricity per year.

Farigaig Substation

SSE were looking to build a new windfarm to connect two neighbouring windfarms in Torness, Invernesshire. The project, which was entirely engineer led, commenced with a site examination of several factors ranging from proximity to overhead power lines, to topography and landscape visual impact.

SeaGreen Offshore Windfarm

In 2010 Seagreen Wind Energy Limited (SWEL), which is wholly owned by SSE, was awarded exclusive development rights to the Firth of Forth Round 3 Offshore Wind Farm Development Zone 2 by the Crown Estate, under its third round of offshore wind licencing arrangements.
