Join our Environmental Apprentice Programme

We are looking to recruit Apprentices to join our London and Bristol Infrastructure & Environment teams in September 2019.

Apprenticeships are a fantastic opportunity to earn while you learn and are ideal for students who would like to balance study at university on a day release basis with hands-on work within the business. We are looking to recruit our environmental leaders and subject matter experts of the future and offer the opportunity to gain broad experience within a leading engineering and environmental consultancy with international reach.

As part of our Apprentice Programme, you will develop your skills and knowledge whilst working on a wide range of high-profile projects for a diverse client base, gaining valuable work experience and formal qualifications at the same time as earning a competitive salary. You will have the opportunity to experience various disciplines within Waterman’s environmental business.

Environmental Practitioners will combine a high level of knowledge and understanding of environmental principles and techniques to complex environmental systems. Their expertise will be developed, adaptable or transferable to a range of environmental specialisms, for example, environmental policy and legislation, air quality, climate change, energy, water resources, waste management, ecology, acoustics, land contamination, sustainability, landscape or heritage.

In their daily work, an employee in this occupation interacts with junior and senior members of their own project team, typically in an office-based environment but also on site. They will work with technical specialists both within and beyond their profession, for example, environmental managers and consultants, environmental impact assessors, design and commissioning engineers and architects.

This hands-on experience is complemented by one day per week at University where you will be studying for a BSc in Environmental Science. Many of our Apprentices go on to achieve Chartered Engineer status. In order to meet the challenges within the work and degree programme, we are looking for candidates with the following academic achievements:

• 5 GCSEs grades A-C / 9-5 including Maths & English.
• 2 A-Levels at grades A-C from the following subject options: Science, Maths, Geography, Psychology OR a BTEC Level 3 to include 6 units in a science subject.

If you have a passion for environmental science and are ready to take your first step towards a challenging yet fulfilling career, please send your CV to Nick Harrison, our Group Learning & Development Manager.
