The healthy route to MIPIM

Cycling is a great mode of transport. It ensures you stay fit, it is environmentally friendly and can even help raise money for a good cause.

Jonathan Purcell, a director of our Building Services team in Nottingham, is part of Waterman’s line-up at this year’s MIPIM, which is the world’s largest property event. But instead of flying out there, he has teamed up with Legal & General Real Assets and 150 professionals to cycle the 1,500km from London to Cannes. The great challenge is organised by Club Peloton which is a fundraising charity that uses cycling as a catalyst for making the world a better place.

The brave cyclists will be taking off on 8th March. They have already started their fundraiser in aid of Club Peloton’s chosen charity Coram – the oldest children’s charity in the UK which has been helping vulnerable children for 275 years.

Jonathan discovered his passion for pedalling when he initially embraced the sport as a hobby. Committed to work and his family, it was not until later in life when the children were older that he could dedicate more time to the sport.

He is currently enjoying his rigorous training in preparation for the grand depart. Excited about the challenge, he says; “How better to spend a week of my life than cycling with like-minded people, raising money for an amazing charity?”

Jonathan is expecting to be arriving in style 13th March to the Cote d’Azur where he will re-unite with the rest of our Waterman team to kick off the big property event.
