Waterman volunteers inspire the next generation

Waterman is delighted to continue our support for the Construction Youth Trust and St Marylebone School and their move to virtual events. Building on our strong relationship with both, a number of Waterman colleagues have participated in their school engagement activities during November.

For the Construction Youth Trust, Nick Harrison and Chloe Pearse from Group HR and Georgia Lilley, WSL London, participated in three separate ‘Careers Networking’ sessions promoting and de-mystifying engineering and construction industry careers. Souroni Hazra, WIE Bristol, took part in event around ‘Forces & Pressures’.

St Marylebone School were seeking volunteers to help their students prepare for university interviews across a range of subjects. Tom Kavanagh, WIE Birmingham supported sessions for ‘Architecture’ and Samantha Rogers, WIE Bristol, took part in sessions for ‘Natural Sciences’.

Nick Harrison, Waterman’s Group Learning and Development Manager, said: “It is more important now than ever to find ways to keep students engaged and inspired about considering a career within the industry. We look forward to further opportunities with both organisations and our network of schools, and we have already lined up commitments with the Construction Youth Trust in December. We definitely encourage others to take part when future opportunities arise.”

Many thanks to our staff who participated in November’s events and those who took part in previous face to face initiatives.
