Alan graduated from the Dublin Institute of Technology, Bolton Street, in 2012 with an honours degree in building services engineering. He is a Chartered Engineer with Engineers Ireland.
He began his career in the industry in 2002, when he completed a Certificate in Mechanical Engineering at Tallaght Institute of Technology. He then completed an apprenticeship in plumbing with a leading mechanical and building services contractor and subsequently was responsible for installation and maintenance of mechanical services for numerous hospital, education, retail and commercial building projects. This experience ensures a very practical approach to his role as a lead building services designer with his projects displaying his understanding of the importance of addressing buildability and ease of maintenance issues at design stage.
Design expertise encompasses residential development, education, commercial, health sector and public building works, which he has gained on new build, fit-out and refurbishment projects throughout Ireland. He is an SEAI registered domestic BER assessor.
Alan’s experience on the contracting side has given him a strong interest in advancing safety on construction sites. He is trained to act as Project Supervisor Design Process and regularly advises his clients on health and safety matters relating to building development and operation.
Alan joined the Waterman Moylan team in 2015 as a Senior Mechanical Engineer and was promoted to Associate in 2019.
