Capital Dock and Two Fifty One up for ACEI Design Excellence Award

Waterman Moylan are delighted to see Capital Dock and Two Fifty One shortlisted within the ‘Structures Large’ and ‘Overseas’ categories for the upcoming ACEI (Association of Consulting Engineers of Ireland) Design Excellence Awards.

The Awards celebrates the Consulting Engineering Profession in Ireland and, with over 32 projects nominated across the five categories, it will not be an easy task for the judging panel to select the winning projects.

Capital Dock

Capital Dock is a prime 4.8 acre-waterfront scheme in Dublin’s central business district, comprising 60,000 m2 mixed-use contemporary office, residential and retail development. The prestigious scheme delivers 190 high-quality residential units set across three buildings, one of which is 23-storeys and the tallest in Dublin. The 35,000 m2 of offices across three buildings provides a variety of work place settings with amenity space and roof terraces.

We are proud to have been appointed by Kennedy Wilson to provide civil and structural engineering services and construction-related health and safety advisory services on the project.

Two Fifty One

Two Fifty One, Europe’s tallest pre-cast building, is an iconic addition to London’s skyline. Forming an integral part of the on-going regeneration of the Elephant & Castle area, the 41-storey residential tower is focal point of this half acre, mixed-use development that encompasses 3,100 m2 of modern office space and 280 m2 of new retail units. The tower amenities include 24-hour concierge, Wi-Fi lounge, cinema club, health and spa club, entertaining space, cafes and bars, as well as fully glazed winter gardens.

Our teams were appointed by ECA Development Ltd to provide structural, building services, environmental and transportation consultancy services for the project. We partnered with Laing O’Rourke’s Design for Manufacturing and Assembly team (DfMA) to develop precast columns and lattice floor plank systems with a two-storey basement constructed and a secant-wall formed from an existing basement level. Our experts provided acoustic design and sustainability advice including guidance on building elements, waste and energy usage.

The Awards Dinner will be held at the Intercontinental Hotel in Dublin on 29 March 2019.
