Honeypark – attenuation lake and wetlands

Waterman Moylan are providing civil and structural engineer services in relation to the development of a 17ha site on the former Dun Laoghaire Golf Club Lands, adjacent to the Glenageary Road Upper in Dun Laoghaire.

The development has planning for 856 residential units and a commercial centre for retail units fronting the Glenageary Road Upper.

Central to the development is the provision of a parkland amenity area and an artificial attenuation lake. The lake was designed by Waterman Moylan, in conjunction with Mitchell Associates, in accordance with best practice to meet with the latest Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SuDS) objectives. The lake, wetlands and associated recreational areas were successfully completed earlier this year.

The lake and wetlands have been designed and built to attenuate the storm water runoff from the entire site and by way of constructed reed beds adjacent to the lake will improve the water quality of the rain water runoff prior to its discharge to the public sewer. This quality improvement is achieved by the removal of pollutants within the reed beds and by dilution with retained of storm water.

For further details of the services we offer in flood risk assessment, SuDS design and sewage and drainage systems please contact Patrick Opdebeeck or Joe Gibbons.
