New environmental apprenticeship scheme launches
Following a long period of development by the Trailblazer committee, the Level 6 (degree) Apprenticeship Standard for Environmental Practitioners has been launched, with the first candidates able to start courses this September.
The apprenticeship scheme is a vital tool to help employers in the environmental sector (including environmental consultancies) access and employ apprentices, using their Apprenticeship Levy funds where applicable. The Standard was developed through several committee meetings, wider Trailblazer group workshops and liaison with the Institute for Apprenticeships.
Waterman’s Director Anna Bacon, co-chair of the Trailblazer group, says: “I am delighted to see the scheme launched after supporting the development of this new apprenticeship standard. This as an important step in making entry into the environment sector more accessible, giving all employers links to a much-needed wider resource pool.”
