Waterman Moylan were appointed to provide civil and structural engineering consultancy services over a ten-year period for a one of five zones in a number of residential, leisure and environmental schemes within the development, ranging in size from 4 to over 100 units.
The housing schemes are an innovative mix of two, three and four-storey units. The designs include a range of energy efficient measures such as solar panels, ground heat exchange systems and very high standards of insulation.
Existing housing areas that were retained were upgraded, with renewal and reorganization of buried services and utilities, the reconfiguration of access, parking and pedestrian links and the creation of landscaped pocket parks. A new dedicated crèche facility and a sports and community centre were completed as part of the Sillogue/Sandyhill regeneration.
Each scheme has its own distinctive character with 540 homes being provided in total.
