Dublin Airport has seen a period of rapid expansion over the last 20 years and there have been a number of incremental expansions at Terminal 1 over that period, including the construction of a large new facility for use by low cost airlines. As a result, the establishment of a central emergency systems control centre became essential.

We were appointed to manage the process of bringing together monitoring and control systems for fire alarm and fire suppression systems, emergency lighting, voice and PA systems, emergency power, and video systems to a single location identified for the purpose by client Dublin Airport Authority.

Working with specialist sub-consultant’s designs were prepared for the centre which included workstations and monitoring stations linked to an AV Wall, a conference facility and meeting rooms, to act as the emergency command and control centre in the event of a major event anywhere in Terminal 1. A contractor was subsequently procured and the project was successfully executed to a very challenging programme. The facility was handed over in less than 6 months from our appointment.
