7 Clarges Street shortlisted for BCO Award

We are delighted that our project 7 Clarges Street has been shortlisted for ‘Best Commercial Workplace’ at the Regional London and South East BCO Awards 2017.

The British Council for Offices (BCO) Awards acknowledges innovation and focuses external attention on examples of best practice. One of BCO’s primary objectives is to define excellence in office space. As part of this, the annual Awards programme provides public recognition for top quality design and functionality and a benchmark for excellence in workplaces.

The ‘Best Commercial Workplace’ aims to recognise new buildings initiated on a speculative basis for commercial letting including buildings that are substantially pre-let or sold on to an occupier.

7 Clarges Street forms the commercial aspect of British Land’s landmark mixed-use development in Mayfair, the Clarges Estate, which also comprises premium residences at Clarges Mayfair as well as a new headquarters for the renowned Kennel Club.

Waterman is proud to have been appointed as Structural, Building Services, Civil and Environmental Engineers in collaboration with Squire and Partners Architects and Laing O’Rourke Ltd on this prestigious project.

We worked closely with Laing O’Rourke’s DfMA product team to research and develop a new precast floor solution called the E6 Megaplank. These planks, for which Clarges is the first project to use, aided speed of erection and has been proven to be an excellent choice for this project. Our strategic sustainability advice includes low energy designs throughout and has facilitated the scheme’s delivery of a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating.

Craig Beresford, Waterman’s COO of the Property Group, commented: “We are extremely proud to have played a key role in this ambitious project which has used advanced technology to increase the speed of construction, minimised site operations, and aided site logistics for this new landmark address in the heart of London.”

The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on 25th April 2017, which will be held at Hilton, Park Lane, London.

Congratulations to all involved in this exciting project!
