Alexandro Justin wins CIBSE John Hulme Award
Alexandro Justin, an Apprentice for Waterman Building Services, has been awarded the John Hulme Award at the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) East Midlands Award Ceremony at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Nottingham, on 8 March.
The Award recognises the exceptional results of an individual’s persistent and consistent approach to their studies throughout the Higher National Certificate (HNC) at Derby College Group (DCG).
Alexandro started his apprenticeship at Waterman in September 2017, working full-time whilst attending college one day a week. He was one of two students nominated by his Building Services lecturer, Neil Smith, and received the Award for his achievements despite not having any previous Building Services experience.
He said; “Coming from an unrelated academic background, it’s been an amazing experience to see a designer’s role in the everyday life of the construction industry, as well as the impact this has on the people who live in these buildings. I’m eager to continue achieving my goals, hopefully progressing within my career to become a Chartered Mechanical Engineer.”
Jonathan Purcell, Director for Waterman Building Services in Nottingham, commented; “I am delighted to see Alexandro recognised for his hard work and dedication to his studies, this enthusiasm is very much reflected in his work in the Nottingham office. Well done.”
