Angel Court shortlisted for BCO Award
We are delighted that Angel Court has been shortlisted for best ‘Commercial Workplace’ at the BCO Regional Awards in London.
The widely respected British Council for Offices (BCO) Awards is one of the most relevant within the commercial property sector for developers and occupiers, demonstrating how the best designed office space can support wellbeing of staff, increase efficiency and serve the business over time. The category ‘Commercial Workplace’ recognises a new building initiated on a speculative basis for commercial letting including buildings that are substantially pre-let or sold on to an occupier.
The newly completed Angel Court, designed by Fletcher Priest Architects, is a 1970’s tower that has been through a major redevelopment, replacing all but its core, transforming it into a landmark 300,000 sq ft prime office building in the heart of London’s financial district next to the Bank of England. The 25-storey scheme provides high quality office space with floorplates up to 27,000 sq ft, five terraces and uninterrupted 360-degree views of London’s skyline.
Waterman was appointed as the multidiscipline engineer to provide structures, MEP, fire, civil and environmental consultancy services. Our team worked closely with Mitsui Fudosan UK (‘Mitsui Fudosan’) and development partner Stanhope Plc to deliver the scheme.
The project’s success is testament to the collaborative approach of the whole team led by Fletcher Priest Architects. The sustainable and innovative design solutions have made this an exemplary project, one of the first London City commercial offices to secure a BREEAM 2014 Excellent Design Stage Assessment as well as an EPC A rating. The construction carbon footprint was significantly reduced through innovative design solutions that enabled retention of the original core and re-use of original foundations and basement structure.
The winners will be announced at the Awards Ceremony on 18th April at London Hilton, Park Lane.
