Baggot Plaza shortlisted for ACEI Design Excellence Award

We are delighted to announce that our project Baggot Plaza in Dublin has been shortlisted in the ‘Innovation’ category at the ACEI (Association of Consulting Engineers of Ireland) Design Excellence Awards 2017.

The awards recognise ACEI member firms for projects that demonstrate a high degree of achievement, value and excellence in engineering design.

Baggot Plaza, one of the most prestigious properties in Kennedy Wilson’s portfolio, involved the refurbishment and extension of an existing 1970’s 7-storey office building located at the heart of the Grand Canal commercial district. The building has been re-clad externally with the introduction of red sandstone to the primary Baggot Street elevation and with coloured horizontal tile cladding to the remaining facades.

We were appointed by Kennedy Wilson to provide the Civil, Structural, Traffic and Health & Safety services and worked closely with the design team and the contractor to complete this landmark project.

The project was completed within 15 months, and a Grade A building was delivered. By maintaining the building frame and elements of the original building, significant efficiencies were achieved. These include a 70% reduction in energy consumption and a considerable improvement in the Emissions Rating (BER) from F to B1.

The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on the 31st March 2017.
