CIHT Young Professional of the Year award
As part of the on-going public realm works within Coventry City Centre, the in house design and delivery team picked up two prestigious awards at the recent Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation (CIHT) West Midlands Branch Awards Dinner.
The City Centre Public Realm works won two high profile awards – the Innovation Award which recognises innovative problem solving within the highways and transportation industry and encourages imaginative concepts and excellence. Furthermore, Chris Young, West Midlands Area Manager (pictured centre) at Waterman Aspen won the coveted Young Professional of the Year Award for his leading role in the design and delivery of the UK’s largest 20mph Zone.
This highly innovative zone required extended liaison with the Department for Transport and is significantly different to any other in the country in that vehicle speeds have been designed through the use of inno-vative new road layouts rather than using traditional traffic calming features.
These two awards recognise the fantastic achievements made by the Public Realm Team at Coventry City Council and further enhance Waterman Aspen’s reputation to the client, both regionally and nationally. The team are also up for a number of other awards in forthcoming months including nominations at the National CIHT Awards.
