Exclusive new homes on the Horizon for St Helier as project reaches key milestone

Located in an enviable position on St Helier waterfront, the exclusive Horizon residential development has reached its highest point structurally, and celebrated the milestone with a ‘topping out’ ceremony on December 8.

Designed by architects Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, the development will offer a collection of 280 one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments and penthouses along with 20,000 sq ft of retail and restaurant space, all set across three eight, nine and ten-storey buildings above a site-wide two-level basement. Each of the new homes will be framed by floor to ceiling glazing with a private balcony, providing even greater access to the incredible views of the sea, coast and nearby 16th-century Elizabeth Castle situated in St Aubin’s Bay.

Continuing Waterman’s longstanding relationship working with the Government of Jersey’s property development arm, Jersey Development Company (JDC), on the International Finance Centre and Esplanade Quarter schemes, this project sees us team-up with JDC once more, alongside their joint-venture partner, Groupe Legendre.

Our specialists provided design consultancy services for the challenging basement-level, covering contamination, hydrogeology and geotechnical aspects. Elsewhere, our structures and civils teams delivered detailed design input to set the site’s geometry and spatial arrangement, whilst our building services team are providing client-side compliance monitoring for the MEP services and lift installation.
Richard Whitehead, Waterman’s Managing Director for Structures, attended the topping out ceremony with Tony Denby, our Associate Technician, joining representatives from the client and wider project team.

Richard commented: “We are pleased to see Horizon reach this major milestone. The development will provide exceptional luxury accommodation and bring new retail and hospitality facilities to this thriving location on St Helier waterfront. I was delighted to attend the topping out event in person, and it was fantastic to mark the occasion by celebrating with JDC and the project team. I look forward to seeing the scheme continue towards completion in the coming months.”

Horizon is anticipated to be completed in 2023.
