Globe Works – New student accommodation in Birmingham
Waterman are delighted to have worked with L&UK Property and DW Hicks Building Company Limited on the £52m Globe Works project in Birmingham. The redevelopment, designed by Steve Ritchie Partnership and operated by NIDO, provides excellent student accommodation within close proximity to the major universities in the city.
With over 65,000 full-time students attending courses at Aston University and Birmingham City University each year, the 520-room residence on 20 Cliveland Street is in an ideal location being a short ten-minute walk to Birmingham city centre and offers a selection of fully furnished ensuite rooms in shared apartments and studios complete with private kitchenettes.
Additional shared student facilities include a cinema room, spacious communal area complete with a large TV lounge, ping pong and games area, study centre and private study rooms in addition to a 24hour in-house gym and gardens.
Waterman were appointed as structural, civil and building services engineers and also provided environmental consultancy including BREEAM, acoustics and ecology.
