Green light for major residential scheme in Sandyford, Dublin
An Bord Pleanala has granted planning permission for what is set to become one of the highest density residential developments in Ireland.
The 460-unit apartment scheme at the Tivway site in south Dublin’s rapidly growing Sandyford will see six blocks, ranging in height from 5 to 14 storeys, take shape. The buildings will sit on a two-level basement which will accommodate car and cycle parking spaces for residents. The new scheme will also comprise a crèche, gym, café as well as management and community facilities.
The 1, 2 and 3-bedroom apartments will benefit from floor to ceiling windows to provide a bright, naturally lit living accommodation. The high density residential development has been carefully designed to integrate open spaces with the buildings to create a sense of community.
The development is one of the first large-scale residential projects to obtain planning approval under the Strategic Housing Development planning initiative. The design team worked very closely with the local authority, Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council, to develop and detail a quality project in advance of submitting the planning application to An Bord Pleanala.
