Holywell Learning Campus wins Constructing Excellence in Wales Awards 2016

We are delighted that our project Holywell Learning Campus has won an award for ‘BIM project of the year’ at the Constructing Excellence in Wales Awards 2016.

The awards recognise all organisations and project teams demonstrating core strength of construction in Wales and the commitment to deliver buildings, roads, bridges, and facilities of all kinds in a collaborative and sustainable manner.

The Holywell Learning Campus comprises of a new co-located primary and secondary school for 800 pupils in the grounds of the existing Holywell High School. The new school is a mixture of single, two and three storey buildings, with associated play grounds, sports pitches and car parking. We are very proud to have provided the structural engineering consultancy services for the project.

The main challenges on the project were to ensure the existing building could remain in use during construction of the proposed building considering the close proximity between the two. Due to the significant level difference between the two buildings a 5m vertical tensar wall was installed in the temporary case.

The project has featured in numerous press articles and has been held up by Welsh Education Authority as an example of BIM level 2 delivery.

Our team is extremely proud to have been presented with this award and to have been part of a successful evening at Celtic Manor Resort in Wales.
