ICE appoints new Fellow

Daryl Fossett, Associate Director with Waterman Transport and Development has been awarded his fellowship in the latest list issued by ICE.

As a chartered civil engineer and geotechnical expert Daryl has spent over 21 years providing senior level technical design and management support for complex projects involving challenging ground and foundation conditions in Scotland, Scandinavia and the UAE. He currently leads a multi-disciplined engineering team covering the Highlands and central belt of Scotland from the company’s offices in Perth. Currently engaged on a £10M Substation project in the Highlands for Scottish and Southern Energy PLC with considerable geotechnical challenges, the Perth team are actively developing a number innovative solutions to some complex earthworks issues.

Daryl commented; “Having joined Waterman several years ago,  I took an active role in engaging with the industry in general and the ICE in Scotland, with a view to enhancing the Waterman image and to provide local support to our staff who sought professional qualification. I was delighted that the ICE saw fit to recognise me in this way and I am grateful for the opportunities and support, provided by Waterman, that have culminated in this accolade.  Undoubtedly professional qualifications are key to endorsing our quality as a company  which allows us individually, and more importantly collectively, to rise above that of the competition, correspondingly I would urge all, to pursue professional development.”

A Fellow is the highest grade of membership of the Institution and is for senior civil engineers who have made a significant contribution to the civil engineering profession or have advanced the practice of engineering.
