Keynsham Civic Centre Scoops CIBSE Building Performance Award

We are delighted that our project Keynsham Civic Centre has won ‘Project of the Year – Public Use’ at the CIBSE Building Performance Awards 2017.

The category ‘Project of the Year – Public Use’ recognises the new build or refurbishment of a public use building that most effectively demonstrates high levels of user satisfaction and comfort.

The headquarters for Bath and Northeast Somerset Council is an exemplar for sustainability in public buildings in the UK. The development is creating new jobs and attracting investments with its One-Stop-Shop of 68,000 ft2 office space, public library and provides more than 20,000ft2 of retail space alongside a market square as well as new car parking facilities.

Waterman was appointed as the Building Services design consultants to undertake the Technical Design and develop the performance scheme from RIBA Stage 3 onwards.

Our key focus was to deliver a highly energy efficient solution to meet Bath and North East Somerset Council’s aspirations. We achieved DEC A rated (Display Energy Certificate) offices and designed in Revit to BIM Level 2, with close co-ordination with AHR Architects.

Steve Jones, Director of Building Services, commented; “We are proud to have been involved in this prestigious project located within the South-West region. With such high expectations from the outset, the project proved to be both challenging and rewarding, with our Bristol team demonstrating the high level of focus and collaboration required to achieve the necessary energy targets to deliver a DEC A rated building. From the ongoing soft-landings assessment, the current monitoring suggests that the building is set to reach this goal.”

The winners were announced at the awards ceremony held on Tuesday 7th February 2017 at Grosvenor House, Park Lane, London.

Congratulations to all involved in this exciting project!
