One New Street Square shortlisted for BCO Award

We are delighted that our project One New Street Square has been shortlisted for ‘Best Commercial Workplace’ at the Regional London and South East BCO Awards 2017.

Use-in-textThe British Council for Offices (BCO) Awards acknowledges innovation and focuses external attention on examples of best practice. One of BCO’s primary objectives is to define excellence in office space. As part of this, the annual Awards programme provides public recognition for top quality design and functionality and a benchmark for excellence in workplaces.

The ‘Best Commercial Workplace’ aims to recognise new buildings initiated on a speculative basis for commercial letting including buildings that are substantially pre-let or sold on to an occupier.

One New Street Square is a superb Grade A office development designed by Robin Partington & Partners. The scheme provides 15 floors of quality office space combined with ground floor retail units and reception areas. The Pas de Deux form offers a dynamic addition to the London skyline with panoramic views across the city.

Waterman were appointed by Land Securities to provide structural engineering services on this prestigious development. We worked closely with the Architect Robin Partington & Partners to achieve an exceptional floor plate with minimal internal columns. The structural solution provided great flexibility in space planning and at the same time limited the overall building heights respecting the St Paul’s Cathedral protected views.

The entrance areas were structurally challenging and by hanging the structure from the plant room at roof level dramatic column free entrances have been delivered.

The building was pre-let to Deloitte and the inherent flexibility in the structural concept has enabled the tenants to achieve all of their fit out requirements.

Craig Beresford, Waterman’s COO of the Property Group, commented: “We are very proud to have worked on this prestigious project. The design achieves the technical performance required and has added an element of drama and excitement to an already striking architectural composition.”

The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on 25th April 2017, which will be held at Hilton, Park Lane, London.
