Peter O’Flaherty joins CIWEM committee
Waterman are delighted that Peter O’Flaherty, an Associate within our infrastructure & environment team, has been elected to the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM) Rivers and Coastal Group committee.
As a forum for professional and technical members of CIWEM, the Rivers and Costal Group aims to lead the way in promoting excellence and effectively influence the government, NGOs and the wider community within policies which affect the physical and social elements of floor and erosion risk management.
As a committee member, Peter will be directly involved in promoting the development of the sciences affecting the profession and joining the Technical Panel for the Institution for matters relating to flood and coastal erosion risk management. In addition to his own professional development and continuous learning, Peter will also support his fellow members through a range of technical visits and meetings that cater for their wider interests in various environments (i.e. natural and built, urban and rural, fluvial and coastal).
Brendan McCarthy, Waterman’s Technical Lead for Flood Management in London, commented; “I’m delighted Peter will have the opportunity to further develop our relationship with CIWEM and help promote best practice across the industry.”
