Planning approved for Unity Walk
We are delighted that Stoke-on-Trent City Council has granted full planning permission for Realis Estates’ 435,000 sq ft retail and leisure development Unity Walk.
The scheme will transform the old East West Centre and former Bus Station with an exciting new development, which will bring modern stores to the city centre along with cafés and restaurants. The construction will include a 50,000 sq ft M&S Clothing & Home and Food Store and a 26,000 sq ft Next alongside a 10-screen The Light Cinema, which is expected to include Staffordshire’s first IMAX.
Unity Walk will also provide a 90-room hotel and a triple-deck car park with more than 600 spaces. It is set to create hundreds of jobs and attract more visitors to the city centre.
Waterman has been appointed to provide structural engineering services on this prestigious development.
Duncan Mathieson, Managing Director of Realis Estates, said; “Securing planning approval for Unity Walk is a fantastic result and a major milestone towards making our vision a reality. We will now work hard to relocate the site’s existing occupiers so we can begin demolition as soon as possible.”
The project is due for completion in Spring 2019.
