Planning Green Light for 66 Hammersmith Road
Proposals for the 240,000 ft² mixed-use redevelopment of 66 Hammersmith Road in Olympia, London have been approved. The existing 1980’s building of 50,000 ft² will be transformed to offer 223,000 ft² of high specification offices across eight storeys, in addition to 9,000 ft² of retail space.
The new commercial office designed by Apt will replace the existing building, reflecting the emerging large-scale regeneration master plan for Olympia.
Supporting Quadrant Estates through the planning process, we provided structural and transport engineering and flood risk advice. Externally, exposed structural elements provide a modular/grid form reflecting the site’s setting, whilst providing a scale appropriate to adjacent properties. The building will feature a roof garden, green living walls on the western façade and storage space for 310 bicycles. The site’s public spaces will also be transformed to bring a tree-lined frontage to Hammersmith Road.
The commercial office space, aimed at smaller businesses, will be located on the upper floors with retail space at ground floor level.
Jody Pearce, Structures Director, said: “It is exciting to see the scheme progress from the planning stage, and we are looking forward to its development and construction in the coming months.”
