Planning permission granted for Scoil Phadraig National School, Ireland

We are pleased that Laois County Council has granted planning permission for The Minister for Education’s new primary school in Portarlington, Ireland, which could eventually cater for over 700 pupils.

Scoil Pharaig National School will be a 3-storey building located on a 3.7 hectare site on Canal Road. The new school will have 24 classrooms and two special needs units, as well as a general purpose hall, support teaching spaces and ancillary accommodation.

Waterman Moylan was appointed to provide the full engineering consultancy services required to obtain this successful grant of planning, and we worked closely with other members of the team; OMP, Axis, Mitchell Associates and KSN Project Management. The primary school in Portarlington is part of the Design and Build Schools 2018-2019 programme, a framework agreement for which we were commissioned in 2016.

Waterman Moylan’s director, Richard Osborne, commented; “We are very proud to utilise our expertise within the Educational Sector and to have played a role in achieving this exciting milestone.”

The new school is due for completion in 2018.
