Royal College of Pathologists HQ shortlisted for Dezeen Awards
Waterman are delighted that the Royal College of Pathologist’s (RCP) new headquarters has been shortlisted within the ‘Business Building’ Architecture category for the second Dezeen Awards which will be hosted on 30 October in London.
As organised by Dezeen, the world’s most popular and influential architecture and design website, the Awards is a benchmark for international design excellence and recognises the most influential artists and designers across the globe.
There are 36 categories separated amongst four sectors; Architecture, Interiors, Design and Studio, all of which will be judged by 75 leading figures within the architecture and design world. The panel will also pick three overall project winners from each category.
The RCP’s new eight-storey headquarters in Aldgate, Central London, is the permanent home of their staff and professional members. Featuring a double-height entrance atrium with floor to ceiling windows to maximise natural daylight, the Bennetts Associates architectural design includes a suite of state-of-art facilities with a multi-purpose 210-person conference theatre, meeting rooms, office space and examination rooms.
Waterman were appointed to provide the structural design for the project, working closely with the architect to incorporate pioneering concrete techniques which add to the premium look of the building’s interior finishes, whilst also saving time and cost elsewhere.
