Speaking Up at Ecobuild
Following on from recently winning the 2016 CIBSE Building Champion award for the Everyman Theatre, our Building Services team were invited to speak about the project at Ecobuild, held at the Excel Conference Centre, London.
Our Building Services MD, Neil Lewis addressed an audience of over 150 people to support the feature “Proven to Perform – Better Building Exemplars” hosted by Hywel Davies, Technical Director for the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers.
Neil gave an insightful overview of the history and development of the Everyman Theatre from its building origins as a chapel in 1837 through to its rebirth as the Stirling prize winner in 2014, and described its success as a socially sustainable building in addition to its highly sustainable environmental credentials. The talk went on to explain the benefits of a naturally ventilated auditorium, recycled materials, the use of CHP, LED lighting and rainwater harvesting.
