The Glasshouse scoops top prize at Evening Standard New Homes Awards
Waterman are delighted that the Glasshouse residential development was the overall winner of the Evening Standards New Homes Awards 2019, winning the coveted ‘Grand Prix Award’. The PKS Lyndon Goode Architects-designed scheme also scooped the Best London Home (over 100 units) Award, a fantastic achievement for developers, London Square.
The Evening Standard New Homes Awards, now in their 28th year, celebrate and commend excellence and innovation in residential design across the country. The Awards are judged by an independent panel of property experts and Evening Standard readers across 14 categories, from first-time buyer flats to mansions; and from urban regenerations schemes to rural barn conversions.
The Grand Prix Award was given to the stunning £985,000 two-bed triple-aspect unit which offers expansive views across London from an open-plan living space. The Glasshouse, a 9-storey residential block near to Kings Cross, is part of a wider mixed-use scheme at Caledonian Road comprising 4 residential blocks across two neighbouring sites and offering residents a selection of 252 1 and 2 bed units, each with their own private balcony space, in addition to new retail and leisure units.
Residents of the Glasshouse enjoy a glass-fronted hotel-style entrance lobby, on-site gym and access to the communal gardens with views across the trees and green space on adjacent Market Garden Road. The Glasshouse is located on the site of a former 1970’s industrial estate completely transformed by the masterplan, utilising high-quality architecture to turn this underused piece of land into a thriving new residential, retail and working community.
Waterman’s team provided structural engineering design along with a detailed ground interaction model and ongoing tunnel stability monitoring, working with the challenging site to deliver a stunning mixed-use development which, in part, is situated directly above London Underground’s Piccadilly Line.
Congratulations to all involved with the project!
