Three Waterman projects shortlisted at Scottish Property Awards

Waterman is delighted that three of our projects, Badenoch & Strathspey Community Hospital, Additional Support Needs School Lockhart Campus and St James Quarter, have been shortlisted at The Scottish Property Awards.

The Awards recognise the best new commercial and public buildings in Scotland. The independent competition is judged by a panel of experts drawn from across the sector, bringing together industry experience and market knowledge to recognise the greatest achievements in the built environment across Scotland.

Badenoch & Strathspey Community Hospital – Healthcare Development of The Year

NHS Highland’s new Badenoch & Strathspey Community Hospital is Aviemore comprises 24-ensuite in-patient bedrooms, 12-consulting treatment rooms and a minor injuries unit along with dental and x-ray facilities. Along with a welcoming reception area with a spacious waiting area for visitors, the hospital is also housing a Scottish Ambulance service base, a GP practice, as well as facilities for community health and social care teams. Our Structures team worked closely with hub North Scotland, NHS Highland and the wider project team to deliver the civil and structural engineering design services having previously been involved in the due-diligence on the acquisition of the site.

St James Quarter, Edinburgh – Development of the Year (Commercial Buildings) & Regeneration Project of the Year

Shortlisted in two categories, the new St James Quarter comprises of 65,000 sqm of retail space, over multiple levels with a central galleria, and will also include up to 250 residential units, two new hotels with associated leisure facilities and three basement levels of car parking. Waterman provided a range of environmental consultancy services including EIA, ecology, acoustics and air quality.

Additional Support Needs School Lockhart Campus – Architectural Excellence Award (Public Use)

Designed by NORR Architects, the new North Ayrshire ASN campus provides a modern campus delivering inclusive education opportunities for students from the ages of 2-18 with a range of different educational, ability and mobility needs. The ASN school further benefits from respite and residential facilities adjacent to the main school building. Our team were appointed to deliver structural engineering design services on the £20 million development.
