Topping Out at No.1 Spinningfields

No.1 Spinningfields, the world class, Grade A commercial building in Manchester, celebrated an important milestone with a ‘topping out’ ceremony, symbolising that the highest point structurally has been achieved.

KWP_0001The 300,000 sq.ft building has reached its full height of 92 metres and marks 20 years of development by Allied London. It is now the tallest commercial tower to be built in Manchester in the last 50 years.

Waterman’s Building Services team is appointed to provide MEP compliance duties as part of the compliance team led by GTMS. Our team has been heavily involved since day one, firstly assisting in master planning all site utilities, providing concept and detailed design to many of the buildings as well as compliance advice and site monitoring throughout.

Neil Lewis, Managing Director of Building Services attended the ceremony on the 17th February and was proud to be amongst the guests on roof level 19 of No.1 Spinningfields in Manchester’s city centre.

Speaking at the topping out ceremony, Michael Ingall, Chief Executive of Allied London said it was a significant day in the development’s history and praised the construction team led by Bam Construction for delivering the office on time.

Manchester’s Lord Mayor also gave an uplifting speech, highlighting the significant success that Manchester has achieved as a major commercial centre. The event was further enhanced by children from a number of Manchester schools, who performed an original song inspired by the building together with Manchester Camerata, reflecting BAM’s work with local community projects.

No.1 Spinningfields is due to be completed in July 2017.
