Triple Revo Gold Awards Shortlisting for Waterman Projects

Three of our fantastic projects – Westgate Oxford, Piccadilly Lights and The Orchard Centre – have been shortlisted for 2018’s Revo Gold Awards! With the annual awards among the most sought-after in the built environment sector, winning projects are recognised and celebrated as the very best examples of development, investment and asset management in the retail property and placemaking industry.

Westgate Oxford
The £440m shopping destination in Oxford’s city centre, accommodating 800,000 ft² of retail and leisure outlets, which opened its doors in October 2017. The major development, anchored by a three-storey John Lewis department store, boasts over 100 shops, restaurants, cafes and leisure facilities, including a boutique five-screen Curzon Cinema. Waterman provided multidisciplinary services, covering structural, civil engineering, environmental and flood risk services.

Piccadilly Lights
Property developer Land Securities, and owner of the Lights, launched the #PiccadillyOn campaign alongside major renovations of the popular feature. The #PiccadillyOn campaign was launched in aid of Barnardo’s which is the UK’s largest children’s charity that aims to transform the lives of young people across the UK. The original patchwork of screens has been replaced with Europe’s largest 4K LED single digital screen and live technology hub which has the ability to divide into six full and subtle motion segments. Waterman was appointed to provide structural engineering advice during project planning and construction to deliver a complex framework that safely connects the new 4K digital screen to the existing building.

The Orchard Centre, Didcot
The £50 million expansion of the Orchard Centre in Didcot, providing over 20 new shops and seven new cafes and restaurants. The 95,000 ft² extension includes retail store tenants M&S Food Hall, H&M, River Island and TK Maxx, in addition to a Nandos restaurant and Costa Coffee and Starbucks cafes. The development also saw new public areas and an additional 191 car parking spaces. The new shops, restaurants and cafes opened in spring 2018. Waterman supported Hammerson throughout the scheme, providing structural and civil engineering alongside building services.

The winners will be announced at a Gala Dinner at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London on the 5th December.
