We are delighted that our project Victoria Gate has been shortlisted for the RIBA Yorkshire Award 2017.

161020_Acme_VictoriaGate_089The RIBA Yorkshire Awards celebrate better buildings, communities and the environment through architecture. They aim to recognise successful projects that reflect changes and innovations in architecture, but at their core display a commitment to designing and developing buildings and spaces for the improvement and enhancement of people’s lives.

Victoria Gate is anchored by the flagship John Lewis store as well as 30 new retailers and restaurants making it the go to premium shopping, leisure and dining destination in the North.

Designed by architects, Acme, the development is a 21st century interpretation of the traditional Victorian retail arcades found in Leeds city centre.

Waterman is proud to have provided multidiscipline services for the development and were also appointed by Sir Robert McAlpine to complete the multidisciplinary engineering services design as part of their design and build contract, with additional expertise provided on the acoustics, fire engineering and transportation.

Regional winners will be considered for the RIBA National Awards. The shortlist for the RIBA Stirling Prize for the best building of the year will be drawn from the RIBA National award-winning buildings.

The winners will be announced at the Awards ceremony on Thursday 25th May at Fruit in Hull.
