Victoria Gate wins ‘International Project of the Year’ at the Irish Concrete Society Awards
We are delighted that our project, multi-award winner, Victoria Gate has scooped ‘International Project of the Year’ at the Irish Concrete Society Awards.
The annual Awards, in its 35th year running, celebrates excellence in the design and construction in concrete within Elemental, Infrastructure and Building.
The category International Project of the Year recognises Irish companies who export product or service off the island of Ireland. The Award reflects the growing emphasis on export for all in Irish construction. Techrete, the supplier of the precast concrete panels for Victoria Gate, demonstrated how far the limits of precast concrete engineering can be pushed with their architectural precast concrete cladding consisting of 16 panel types cast using four different modules.
The jury commented on the award win; “For its use of modern technology in the design process, and BIM 3D software to direct the CNC cutting machines for mould-making, for the achievement of the highest standards in quality control and production of each of the individual units, for the novel and innovative method of transporting and handling theses unique precast units, coupled with the difficult onsite installation process, and for delivering an outstanding end-product for a marquee and high-profile Client.”
Waterman is proud to have provided multidiscipline services for the development and were also appointed by Sir Robert McAlpine to complete the multidisciplinary engineering services design as part of their design and build contract, with additional expertise provided on the acoustics, fire engineering and transportation.
Waterman’s Director Karen Telling, said; “We are thrilled that Victoria Gate has won another award. The concrete elements by Techrete creates emphasis on the building, which is wrapped in a grid of diamonds evoking an ultra-light geodesic structure. This would have been impossible to achieve without precast concrete technologies and the utilisation of BIM 3D design tools. We are extremely proud to have been part of this new and iconic retail scheme.”
The winners were announced at the Awards ceremony on Saturday 8th April in Croke Park, Dublin.
