Walk the Plank shortlisted for RIBA North West Award
We are delighted that Walk the Plank’s new facility in Salford has been shortlisted for the RIBA North West Award.
The prestigious RIBA Award takes place in all regions across the UK and recognises successful projects that reflect changes and innovations in architecture, with emphasis on the commitment to designing and developing buildings and spaces to improve and enhance people’s lives.
Walk the Plank is one of the UK’s leading outdoor events organisations and opened its doors in October 2017. Situated on Cobden Street, its new home is the UK’s first purpose-built outdoor arts creative hub. Designed by Architectural Emporium, this innovative scheme involved creating an office hub, training facility, workshop and rehearsal space, all under the same roof. The scheme combines the many different activities that Walk the Plank used to operate across Greater Manchester. The intention is to bring all these together in one place to encourage greater collaboration and streamlined working practices for Walk the Plank’s creative work.
All shortlisted buildings in the North West will now be assessed by a regional jury ahead of the Regional Awards ceremony 16th May 2018 at One Fine Day in Liverpool, when the winners will revealed.
The Regional Award winners across the UK will go onto compete in the rigorous National Award, namely the RIBA Stirling Prize which will broadcast live on BBC in recognition of the country’s outmost architectural excellence in June.
Congratulations to all those involved in this exciting project!
We are also keeping our fingers crossed for Angel Court which is shortlisted for RIBA’s London Award.
