Waterman achieves first BREEAM Outstanding

Siemens’ new turbine factory built on a greenfield site on the outskirts of Lincoln has been awarded an interim BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ rating with a score of 86.10%.

The development achieved the highest BREEAM rating through incorporating into the design Low and Zero Carbon technologies, minimising energy and water consumption, and specifying building materials with low environmental impact.

Waterman Energy, Environment & Design assessed the scheme against the BREEAM methodology and provided BREEAM Accredited Professional services. Waterman’s sustainability led design approach during the planning and detailed design phases identified cost effective solutions to improve the BREEAM rating of the development.  This enabled the project team to exceed Siemen’s sustainability requirement for an BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating.
