Waterman assist planning for a waste facility
Waterman have been appointed by Ling UK Holdings Ltd to assist them with obtaining planning permission for a waste facility in Canterbury, Kent.
The client’s existing planning advisor had already made a planning application, the nature of which (handling 40,000 tonnes of residual and food waste) provoked a vociferous reaction from local businesses, residents and politicians.
During the determination process and, with the site already having a sui generis waste planning permission, Kent County Council sought further information from the applicant. A key issue was the potential impact on the marketability and viability of existing B1, B2 and B8 users within the estate, and any consequential impact to its economic potential.
Waterman was instructed to prepare technical planning responses to amplify and clarify aspects of the proposed development. Planning permission was subsequently granted.
Waterman Energy, Environment & Design offer extensive experience in obtaining environmental permits and planning permissions for waste facilities.
