Waterman Bristol strengthens Historic Environment team

Waterman is delighted to welcome Andrew Holmes as Associate Director for the Historic Environment Team based in our Bristol Office.

Andrew joins us from Atkins and has over 20 years’ experience in delivering archaeology and built heritage consultancy to the public and private sectors. Prior to this, Andrew was a Senior Project Manager and department head at Oxford Archaeology, where he held several high-profile term contracts including the Royal Household and the Historic Royal Palaces Agency.

Andrew has performed both client and contractor representative roles on major infrastructure schemes as lead archaeologist and design consultant. He was also technical lead for multiple frameworks and infrastructure alliances, including Network Rail, MoD, Thames Water, Environment Agency and the Staffordshire Alliance, covering transport, utilities, civil engineering, and commercial development.

Since then Andrew has been managing a team of heritage consultants alongside multidisciplinary consultants to assess, design and deliver historic environment projects for local to national scale developments and infrastructure schemes including the A303 Stonehenge highway improvements. With a firm belief in collaboration and delivering quality outputs, Andrew has a detailed knowledge of cultural heritage assessment, risk management and environmental sustainability.

Richard Stockwell, Waterman’s Regional Director for Infrastructure & Environment in the South West commented; “I’m delighted with Andrew’s appointment as it provides the ideal springboard for our Historic Environment service line offering, helping to support our strategic plan for growing our public sector business in the South West. His extensive skills and experience will continue to build on our success and deliver technical excellence and outstanding customer service to our expanding local and national client base.”
