Waterman scoops two CIBSE Building Performance Awards
We are delighted that our Building Services team and the Everyman Theatre in Liverpool have won two prestigious Building Performance Awards for ‘Building Performance Champion of the Year’ and ‘Project of the Year’ in the Leisure category.
The award, by the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE), recognises the most high profile and prestigious examples of performance, innovation and practice in optimising how buildings work.
Nick Taylor, CEO of Waterman Group, commented; “We are absolutely delighted to have won both award categories. All of these achievements reflects on our great team. Our growth over the years is a testament to our reputation as a trusted mechanical and electrical engineer delivering innovation and high quality designs. We couldn’t be more proud to be recognised as the team and the project that has made the most outstanding contribution to achieve improved building performance.”
Our building services team was actively involved in the development programme for the Everyman Theatre and responsible for the full detailed design of all Building Services Engineering. Special features of the services design included a hybrid, naturally ventilated auditorium, as well as distinctive roof mounted stack chimneys, which contributed to the overall impression of the Theatre. The design delivers the first naturally ventilated auditorium in the country, maintaining “total acoustic isolation”. Waterman also provided the commissioning management role to help achieve the ‘Excellent BREEAM’ rating that the building received at design stage.
The multi-award winner Everyman Theatre won the RIBA Stirling Prize in 2014 for ‘Best New Building of the Year’.
