Waterman shortlisted for Health & Safety Award

We are pleased to have been shortlisted in the Health & Safety category at the Constructing Excellence South West Built Environment Awards. The Award recognises a project, organisation or initiative where health and safety has been driven way beyond the industry norm.

Waterman’s Health and Safety experts have conducted extensive research that focuses on improving wellness in the workplace. In close collaboration with the Stress Management Society, we have designed a number of workshops which aims to raise awareness amongst employees and increase their understanding of how to maintain and optimise wellness in a healthy and safe culture.

Waterman’s own staff have had the privilege to participate in a number of pilot sessions which in turn has raised awareness internally as well as provided valuable input to further improve the workshops. The feedback has also been utilised within the company’s IMS safety policies and procedures, and also integrated within internal trainings including Waterman’s risk assessment and CDM training.

Tara Fry, Senior Associate Director at Waterman, commented; “Wellness in the workplace is a general challenge in today’s society. We have worked very hard to design a programme that can help companies tackle work related stress which is known to exacerbate anxiety and depression. Our own staff have been very committed to taking part in our pilot and it has been a rewarding experience for all of us. We look forward to taking our workshops to the market place later in the year.”

Waterman’s wellness workshop ‘Excelling Under Pressure’ launched in February is the first in a series of workshops to be rolled out. The Health and Safety team is also known for its contribution to the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015. Shortly after CDM 2015 came into force, the team developed a ‘Certificate in Principal Designer (PD) Services’ course accredited by the APS and has since provided over 500 training sessions to organisations who discharge the PD role.

The winners of the Constructing Excellence South West Built Environment Awards will be announced at a ceremony on 22nd June 2018 at Ashton Gate Stadium, Bristol.

Congratulations to all those involved in this exciting initiative!
