Waterman’s Scottish team secure major Railway Lineside Civils Design for Stobart Rail & Civils
Waterman are delighted to announce that Waterman’s Scottish team have secured a major Permanent Way (PWay) project for Network Rail to design the earthworks and geotechnical aspects of a section of the Scottish Central Mainline at Blackford in Perthshire. The project’s Client, Stobart Rail & Civils, are working closely with Network Rail in partnership with Amey Sersa to deliver enabling works and connection to the main line for a new rail freight facility for the Highland Spring water brand.
The Scottish Central Mainline scheme is part of the Scottish Government’s ongoing investment in Scotland’s railway, which looks to improve freight handling capacity in the area to reduce road traffic movements through the town of Blackford.
This is an exciting opportunity for the team and builds on our national rail experience with our first appointment to Stobart Rail & Civils, one of the UK’s premier railway contractors.
Daryl Fossett, Regional Director for our Infrastructure & Environment team in Scotland, commented; “This is an important commission for the Scottish team which capitalises on our strong track record of delivering geotechnical support to our clients in the region, with access to our wider service line expertise.”
